Rancho Bernardo

Rancho Bernardo is a master planned community of San Diego, approximately 23 miles from downtown,offering a variety of housing options in different price ranges, from apartments and condominiums to upscale homes on acreage. The community is located between Poway and Rancho Penasquitos in the I-15 corridor, and its population numbers approximately 50,000. Each neighborhood has its own recreation center, of which every neighborhood resident is a member.There are two seniors-only neighborhoods, but the community attracts all ages, especially families drawn to the well-regarded Poway Unified School District which serves Rancho Bernardo along with Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, Sabre Springs, 4S Ranch and Carmel Mountain Ranch.

Golf is very popular in the area, and there are several local courses to choose from. All types of other sports are enjoyed by the residents, including tennis, soccer and baseball, biking and hiking as well as fishing, boatingand other recreational activitiesavailable at Lake Poway and Lake Hodges. Rancho Bernardo’s community park offers playing fields, hiking trails and a permanent sports center. The community is nationally recognized for its healthy lifestyle.

The commute to San Diego is not a difficult one, and there are “fast track” lanes open during commute times. However, there are also business parks in Rancho Bernardo and Poway, and in nearby Scripps Ranch. Other options include hi tech hubs in the Sorrento Valley area as well as employment opportunities at various hospitals, colleges and universities located in Escondido, Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch and La Jolla. There is no shortage of higher education or medical facilities in the immediate area. North County Fair, on the northern edge of Rancho Bernardo in Escondido, is one of the largest regional shopping malls in the County. There are state-of-the-art libraries in Rancho Bernardo and Poway.
