Scripps Ranch
Scripps Ranch is a community of San Diego known for its woodsy older neighborhoods nestled under canopies of eucalyptus trees and Cedars of Lebanon. In recent years the area has expanded into newer, affluent neighborhoods and the current population including Scripps Ranch Villages is over 35,000. Just off Interstate 15 and within a comparatively easy commute of downtown San Diego, the community is bounded by the city of Poway and the Miramar Air Station on the east and south, and a deep ravine on the north which give it a secluded feel.
Although served by the San Diego Unified School District, Scripps Ranch has its own schools, some of them relatively new, built to accommodate the growing enrollment. School rankings are some of the highest in the San Diego district. Good schools and proximity to many places of employment located throughout North County, as well as work centers in Sorrento Valley, La Jolla and San Diego, make Scripps Ranch an attractive place to live. Some companies have even moved into business parks in the
community itself. The nearby Miramar Marine Air Station employs hundreds of workers. The U.S. International University is on the south side of Scripps and several other universities are within easy reach, including UC San Diego at La Jolla. Miramar Community College is close by, offering a variety of classes for everyone. There is no shortage of shopping centers.
Homeowners belong to a community center which organizes various recreation activities, and soccer and other sports leagues abound. There are hiking and biking trails at Miramar Reservoir, where residents can also fish and boat on the lake, and there are many golf courses within a short commute. Nearby communities including Poway and Rancho Bernardo offer even more recreation opportunities, and fine-dining can be experienced close to home as well.
